Is 1D-LSD actually 1T-LSD

We've just received confirmation that the 1D-LSD sold on the RC market since November 2022 (including by ourselves) is in fact 1T-LSD. We have since confirmed this and are awaiting an official statement from our supplier, Lizard Labs. In this article, I'll be explaining exactly what the hell happened, why we only learnt this now and what the implications are for our customers and the future of the industry. This will be a long one so I've put a TL;DR at the top for those with a similar attention span to mine.

TL;DR: For an unknown time, Lizard Labs have been selling 1T-LSD under the name 1D-LSD.

In light of this, we have relabelled all 1D-LSD products as 1T-LSD. 1D-LSD and 1T-LSD are both LSD analogues and are chemically almost identical, so we expect subjective effects and safety profiles to be more or less indistinguishable.

At this stage, we're still trying to figure out what exactly has transpired and why. As far as we can ascertain, the substance sold under the name "1D-LSD" since November 2022 is chemically closer (or identical) to 1T-LSD. We're still unsure exactly how this mislabelling could have occurred, whether or not it was intentional or a mistake on the part of Lizard Labs.

We had our 1D-LSD NMR tested some time ago, with much time, Expense and difficulty. We were unable to obtain 1D-LSD crystal from our supplier, so we had to settle for testing our blotters, which is far from ideal. The difficulty in testing blotters comes from the fact that the vast majority of the substance is paper and ink, while the active ingredient only makes up around 0.15% of the material. This means NMR results from blotters are always much harder to read than those of pure crystal, and the analysis ends up being largely qualitative, which is to say the lab technician interprets the data and presents the likelihood a particular compound is present in the given substance. 

The results were unusually vague - the identified compound was written by the lab-tech as “1D-LSD - (uncertain)” - but due to the aforementioned issues with testing blotters, we (erroneously) took them at face value. Given Lizard Lab’s long track record of being not only the only producer, but also the inventor, of virtually all LSD analogues on the market today and them being a legit laboratory that does work with various universities and not just some crackpot chemist in his grandma’s basement, we made the big mistake of taking these results at face value and assuming that what we had been sold was indeed 1D-LSD. This was a very big fuck-up on our part and we absolutely should have done due diligence and found a way to have it more accurately tested. This will be a big learning experience for us going forward.

The one bit of positive news we can give in this whole mess is that 1D-LSD and 1T-LSD are almost identical in terms of chemical structure and molecular weight. This means that there’s a very high chance it shares the same safety profile as 1D-LSD, which seems to be the case given the fact we’ve received no reports from our customers of different or unusual results of their experiments. And importantly for our German customers, 1T-LSD is also legal and not covered by the NpSG.

Due to the similarity between the two products, we feel the best course of action that will cause minimal disruption to our customers and the industry as a whole is to continue providing the same products, but under the correct name of 1T-LSD. We have already changed our product pages, so you can continue to order as you always have; no action is needed on your part.
